Industry leaders and policymakers gather to discuss ESG frameworks, circular economy, and sustainable business practices at the ESG Summit 2024 in New Delhi
The ESG Summit 2024, jointly organized by RLG Systems India Pvt. Ltd. and the Policy Times Chamber of Commerce, kicked off today at Silver Oak Hall, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The summit focused on the convergence and implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) frameworks, attracting over 150 participants, including policymakers, sustainability officers, CSR heads, recyclers, supply chain heads, technology leaders, finance leaders, academicians, and researchers.
Mr. Sujit Kumar Bajpayee, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, inaugurated the summit, emphasizing ESG’s role in driving sustainable development. Distinguished speakers, including Dr. Sandip Chatterjee, Mr. Patrick Wiedemann, and Mr. George Atkinson, shared global insights on ESG convergence.
The event, part of the sustainability series by Policy Times Chamber of Commerce and RLG Systems India Ltd., aimed to facilitate dialogue on ESG frameworks and implementation. Key discussions highlighted circularity’s potential to save $624 billion and ESG investments presenting a $40 trillion growth opportunity.
In her address, Smt Roop Rashi, Textile Commissioner, praised India’s sustainable textile practices and advocated for responsible textile production. Mr. Patrick Wiedemann highlighted ESG as a strategic business imperative, while Ms. Radhika Kalia, MD of RLG Systems India, expressed hope for a sustainable future through collaborative efforts.
The summit underscored the importance of aligning economic goals with environmental stewardship, aiming for a cleaner, sustainable future.
