Tata Power Powers MP: New 431 MWp Solar Project Lights Up Neemuch

India’s renewable energy ambitions get a massive boost with TPREL’s state-of-the-art solar plant, set to power 95% of Indore and slash CO2 emissions.

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited, has announced the successful commissioning of its monumental 431 MWp DC solar power project in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh.

This significant achievement marks a major leap forward in India’s drive towards a sustainable and low-carbon energy future, bolstering the nation’s renewable energy capacity.
Completed in just 17 months under the “Solutions for Power Producer” category, the Neemuch solar plant is a testament to advanced renewable energy technology.

A key innovation employed in the project is the strategic combination of single-axis trackers and bifacial glass-to-glass modules. This cutting-edge design allows the modules to track the sun’s movement and capture reflected light from the ground, boosting energy efficiency by at least 15%.

Spanning an impressive 2,000 acres, the colossal facility incorporates 765,408 bifacial glass-to-glass solar modules. The plant boasts a DC capacity of 431 MWp and an AC output of 330 MW, engineered for optimal energy conversion and system performance.

This state-of-the-art project is set to generate nearly 9 crore units of electricity annually, a remarkable output capable of meeting approximately 95% of Indore’s energy needs. This makes the Neemuch solar plant a shining example of scale and technological prowess, poised to drive the region’s sustainable power future.

Beyond local power supply, the project plays a crucial role in India’s broader energy transition. It will provide clean electricity to Western Central Railways and Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited (MPPMCL).

Furthermore, the initiative is projected to offset a staggering 780,300 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually, significantly contributing to India’s ambitious commitment of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

The Neemuch solar project not only enhances TPREL’s leadership in delivering high-performance renewable energy solutions but also underscores India’s unwavering dedication to building a robust, low-carbon future.
