New modules offer 5% more power, lower degradation rates, and BOS cost savings
Indian solar panel manufacturer Gautam Solar has received the latest IEC and UL certifications for its N-type TOPCon solar modules. These certifications include:
- UL 61215-1:2021 Ed2: Design qualification and type approval test requirements for crystalline silicon photovoltaic (PV) modules
- UL 61215-2:2021 Ed2: Design qualification and type approval test procedures for crystalline silicon PV modules
- UL 61730-1:2017 Ed 1: Safety requirements for construction and testing of crystalline silicon PV modules
- UL 61730-2:2017 Ed 1: Safety qualification procedures for crystalline silicon PV modules
Gautam Solar’s N-type TOPCon modules are also certified to EN/IEC 61215-1:2021, EN/IEC 61215-2:2021, EN 61730-1:2018, and EN 61730-2:2018. Additionally, the company holds IEC 62759-1:2022 (Transportation Test) certification and IEC 60068-2-68 (Sand and Dust Test) certification.
The latest IEC standards ensure that solar modules are manufactured using the most up-to-date technologies and best practices. For example, IEC 61215-1:2021 includes new testing requirements such as cyclic (dynamic) mechanical load test, test for PID, test for bending strength, and procedure for stress specific stabilization.
Gautam Solar is also in the process of securing certification for its N-type TOPCon Solar Modules by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and listing in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM).
Gautam Solar’s N-type TOPCon solar modules offer a number of advantages over traditional P-type solar modules, including:
- 5% more power every year
- Lower degradation rates (1% in the first year and 0.4% in subsequent years, compared to 2% in the first year and 0.55% in subsequent years for P-type modules)
- BOS cost savings of 3.26%
- LCOE reduction of 1.56%
Gautam Solar’s N-type TOPCon solar modules are available in power ratings of 565 W to 580 W with a maximum efficiency of 22.45%. They are designed for ground-mounted projects and are already available for the US and European markets.
