Leading Indian Conglomerate Joins Forces with 1t.org and World Economic Forum for Sustainable Environmental Impact
In a significant move towards environmental sustainability, RPG Group, one of India’s leading business conglomerates, has pledged to conserve, restore, and grow one million trees by 2030. This initiative aligns with 1t.org, a Geneva-based platform by the World Economic Forum, which aims to mobilize a global community for reforestation, with the overarching goal of conserving, restoring, and growing 1 trillion trees worldwide by 2030.
1t.org is integral to the World Economic Forum’s efforts to accelerate nature-based solutions, supporting the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030).
RPG Group’s commitment extends to regions where they operate, including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, and Rajasthan. Employees across the conglomerate’s various companies will actively participate in nurturing and growing these trees. The RPG Foundation, the CSR arm of the conglomerate, will spearhead the restoration drive with the aim of increasing tree numbers and enhancing benefits for both the community and the environment.
Anant Goenka, Vice Chairman of RPG Group, emphasized their dedication to sustainable growth, stating, “It’s not merely a pledge to grow a million trees; it’s a promise to contribute to a cleaner and greener tomorrow for all.”
Radha Goenka, CEO of RPG Foundation, highlighted the strategic alignment of philanthropic initiatives with sustainability efforts, expressing pride in addressing genuine community needs.
The symbolic choice of conserving and growing trees reflects RPG Group’s commitment to a green and clean environment, aligning with their nature-positive philosophy and brand promise, “Hello Happiness.” The conglomerate aims to transcend mere profitability, focusing on giving back to communities and enriching them with happiness.
RPG Group’s nature-positive approach is evident across its diverse business entities. CEAT Ltd, the flagship company, envisions reducing carbon footprint by 50% by 2030. KEC International commits to a 20% reduction in Greenhouse Gas emissions intensity of manufacturing plants by FY26. Zensar Technologies, a technology solutions company under RPG, aims for Net Zero GHG emissions by FY 2040. Other RPG Group companies are also dedicated to achieving carbon neutrality, water circularity, and creating a green supply chain.
The conglomerate, along with its companies, remains steadfast in sustainability initiatives, contributing to positive environmental change. Shared commitments encompass Circular Economy, Water Management, Energy Efficiency, and Renewable power adoption, aligning with UNSDGs. RPG Group aspires to shape a future where sustainability transcends choice and becomes a way of being, surpassing industry standards and creating a more sustainable future for all stakeholders.
