Aspen’s Jacquelyn Francis embarks on a remarkable journey from Utah to Idaho, raising funds for climate solutions
Starting on July 12, Jacquelyn Francis, an Aspen local, will embark on a remarkable 600-mile bike ride from Utah to Idaho. Her mission? To inspire action on the climate crisis and demonstrate the possibilities of sustainable travel. As the founding executive director of the Global Warming Mitigation Project, Jacquelyn is pedaling to raise funds for critical climate solutions worldwide.
“I want to inspire others to consider sustainable travel options and show that long-distance biking, while daunting, is entirely possible and should be celebrated—even when you’re about to turn 60, like me!” Jacquelyn shares. Her journey aims to shift perceptions, making sustainable travel not just practical but also inspirational, freeing, and exhilarating.
Jacquelyn’s ambitious goal is to raise $20,000 in support of the Global Warming Mitigation Project. She’s participating in Climate Ride’s 2024 Independent Challenge, a program that empowers cyclists, runners, and hikers to organize multi-day fundraisers benefiting over 100 climate action organizations.
An advocate for finding solutions to global warming, Jacquelyn is no stranger to biking. By pedaling to her next climate event, she’s challenging herself both mentally and physically while raising awareness and funds.
At the midpoint of her journey, Jacquelyn will take the stage at the 9th Sun Valley Forum’s opening night. During her presentation, she’ll unveil the 10 winners of the 2024 Keeling Curve Prize—an esteemed award recognizing innovative solutions for reducing greenhouse gases and combating climate change worldwide.
Throughout her ride, Jacquelyn will share insights, breathtaking scenery, and real-time updates. Follow her journey on social media: Instagram @gwmp_org and LinkedIn @GlobalWarmingMitigationProject
