India’s Solar Surge: Online Searches for Solar Solutions Spike 173% Year-on-Year

Justdial data reveals record growth in demand for solar panel dealers and cleaning services, with Delhi, Patna, and Indore leading the nationwide renewable energy shift.

India’s growing appetite for renewable energy is being strongly reflected online, with searches for solar solutions soaring across the country.

According to Justdial, India’s local search platform, consumer interest in solar panel dealers and maintenance services surged sharply between April–June 2025, compared to both the previous quarter and the same period last year.

What Happened?
Pan-India searches for solar panel dealers rose 173% year-on-year (YoY) and 77% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ). Maintenance-related interest also climbed, with searches for solar panel cleaning services doubling YoY.

Where is the Growth Happening?

  • Delhi and Patna topped the list, with searches increasing 11 times YoY. Patna alone reported a 19x QoQ surge, the highest in the country.
  • Indore saw a 197% YoY spike, tripling on a quarterly basis.
  • Chennai and Hyderabad reported searches 5 times higher YoY, with Hyderabad also recording 130% QoQ growth.
  • Other high-growth cities included Jaipur (+109% QoQ), Pune (+133% YoY), Mumbai (+55% YoY), Ahmedabad (+54% YoY), and Lucknow (+37% YoY).

For cleaning services, Delhi (+92%) and Lucknow (+77%) led the demand, followed by Ahmedabad (+63%) and Vadodara (+43%).

The surge in online interest reflects India’s broader shift toward clean energy adoption and the need for efficiency in existing solar systems. It also coincides with a landmark national achievement—India has crossed 100 GW of domestic solar PV manufacturing capacity in 2025, a dramatic rise from just 2.3 GW in 2014.

Industry leaders such as Reliance and Avaada are spearheading capacity expansion, supported by government initiatives like the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, which is encouraging domestic manufacturing and reducing import dependence.

The trend was captured in the April–June 2025 quarter, aligning with the run-up to Akshay Urja Diwas, India’s annual celebration of renewable energy.

Beyond installation, households and businesses are prioritizing long-term upkeep to ensure panels deliver optimal performance. The rise in cleaning service queries indicates growing awareness about maintenance for durability and efficiency.

As India scales its renewable energy ambitions, the digital search landscape shows citizens are not just curious but increasingly committed to embracing solar power.
