Beyond Renewables & Recycling, a climate-tech startup pioneering high-value solar panel recycling, has raised ₹5 crore in a pre-seed funding round led by Momentum Capital, a US-based venture capital firm. The funding will accelerate the company’s mission to build India’s first large-scale solar waste recycling ecosystem powered by its proprietary 95% recovery technology.
Co-investors in this round include Venture Catalysts, IIMA Ventures, Oorjan Cleantech, and Gautam Das, founder of Oorjan. This marks Beyond Renewables’ first external fundraise since its founding in 2024 by Manhar Dixit and Vedant Taneja.
Tackling India’s Growing Solar Waste Challenge
India’s renewable energy sector, which has already crossed 127.33 GW of solar installations, is expected to generate 1.2 million tons of solar PV waste by 2040, potentially increasing to 4.8 million tons under an early-loss scenario. Currently, most of this waste is handled by the informal sector, leading to low recovery rates and unsafe disposal of hazardous materials.
Beyond Renewables aims to change that with a proprietary recycling process combining advanced thermal and chemical treatments. The technology enables over 95% recovery of high-value materials such as silver, silicon, copper, aluminum, and glass—transforming solar waste into a valuable source of sustainably sourced minerals.
Momentum Capital Backs Deep-Tech Innovation for Circular Solar Economy
“Beyond Renewables’ mission aligns perfectly with our focus on deep-tech solutions for critical environmental challenges,” said Ankur Shrivastava, Managing Partner, Momentum Capital. “India’s solar waste problem is not a distant concern—it’s an urgent one. The team’s breakthrough technology and strong go-to-market strategy position them to lead in a sector projected to reach ₹20,000 crore by 2040.”
Building India’s Circular Solar Ecosystem
Beyond Renewables has developed a multi-channel waste sourcing model, partnering with solar asset developers, EPCs, manufacturers, and dismantlers to ensure consistent supply. The company has also begun commissioning its first industrial-scale facility in Rajasthan, with over 2,000 metric tons of solar waste already in the pipeline.
“With the rapid growth of solar power and panel manufacturing in India, ensuring sustainability from cradle to grave is critical,” said Manhar Dixit, CEO of Beyond Renewables & Recycling. “This funding validates our vision to turn waste into a national resource and build a truly circular solar economy.”
Supported by IIT Mandi Catalyst and NSRCEL, Beyond Renewables is expanding its partnerships with module manufacturers and has secured Letters of Intent (LOIs) from buyers for recycled glass, silicon, and other materials.
As India accelerates toward its clean energy goals, Beyond Renewables & Recycling is positioning itself as a key player in making solar truly sustainable—by closing the loop between clean energy generation and responsible end-of-life management.
