The world has already altered nearly three-quarters of its terrestrial environment and significantly impacted marine ecosystems. The consequences are increasingly evident in the form of extreme weather events, declining biodiversity, water stress and disruptions to agricultural productivity. These environmental challenges are rapidly translating into economic risks. Supply chains are becoming more vulnerable, insurance losses are rising, and communities dependent on natural resources face growing uncertainty.

What makes nature restoration particularly attractive is its ability to generate multiple benefits simultaneously. Unlike many climate interventions that address a single challenge, ecosystem restoration delivers climate mitigation, adaptation, biodiversity conservation and socio-economic development in one integrated package. This creates a multiplier effect that enhances the value of every dollar invested.

For businesses, the relevance of nature is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore. Companies are recognising that nature loss poses material financial risks.
