In a bid to make the city greener and pollution free, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has started establishing EV charging stations in the National Capital for the public.
NDMC has already installed 25 charging stations in the Capital at multiple locations and will be open to the public by the first week of March. The 25 EV charging stations have been installed at CP, Gole Market, Jor Bagh, Sarojini Nagar Market, Yashwant Place and other places. This is the first time in the country that a civic agency has established e-vehicle charging stations for the public.
For the implementation of the EV Charging stations across Delhi, NDMC signed an MoU with Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) last year.
EESL had later selected a company to establish the stations and install charging points as per the ministry of power guidelines.
These 25 EV charging stations will cater to the requirements of electric vehicles manufactured by India based companies.
