NMC likely to lose central govt funded 100 e-buses

The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) may lose 100 e-buses funded by central government. According to a report the reason for losing is the lethargic approach the department, the NMC is yet to float tender for acquiring these eco-friendly e-buses.

Reacting  to this,  NMC’s transport committee chairman Bunty Kukde recently issued a show cause notice to the programme manager of Aapli Bus — DIMTS reports ET.

In the notice Kukde pointed out that the last date for tender process set by the central government is December 15. Despite knowing that this project was initiated by Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari, the programme manager showed least interest.

Under Phase II of FAME the department of heavy industries and public enterprises had sanctioned 100 electric buses to NMC In Augusts this year.

The publication notes that there is a strong possibility that NMC may lose out on this eco-friendly transport scheme.

Kukde warned DIMTS and said “Accelerate the process else NMC will initiate action.”
