Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) recently announced its plan to invest in SWAG EV, which uses clean energy to provide swappable batteries for electric motorbikes in Thailand.
The official statement said that EESL will invest in SWAGEV, an emerging e-mobility player to drive the use of electric motorbikes while contributing to increasing power grid flexibility.
However, this has upset and irked the homegrown players and pushed the locals to go vocal.
In May this year the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi announced a ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign. The PM while addressing the nation on 12th May2020 said “In times of crisis, this local has fulfilled our demand, this local has saved us. Local is not just the need, it is our responsibility also.”
This was not all, in the same month PM Modi called for self-reliance (Aatma Nirbhar Bharart ) to achieve global leadership after Covid-19 crisis. But the investment by the state owned Energy Efficiency Services Ltd. is stark opposite to what Narendra Modi led government has been pushing for.
While many major players stayed tight lipped on the investment, many came forward to express their views, watch the video to know what the domestic players has to say.
