The Ladhak based engineer, innovator and education reformist Sonam Wangchuk has designed a solar-powered tent for the Indian Army at the Galway Valley.
The design of the tent will amaze you and make you say hats off Sir
It took almost a month time to design the prototype and the cost of the project has been beard by Sonam Wangchuk.
The solar powered tent can accommodate 8 to 10 soldiers and is fully portable for difficult terrains.
Each part weighs less than 30 Kgs.
Wangchuk in a social media post said that the tent uses only sunlight, water and insulated layers to maintain temperature.
The solar powered tent has two parts the front and the rear , the front end acts a greenhouse chamber , while the rear end is a sleeping chamber where soldiers can rest.
The tent could sustain even under sub-zero temperatures such as minus 14 degrees Celsius.
He pointed out that it is carbon neutral, replacing tons of kerosene fuel, pollution, emission and climate change.
Wangchuk releasing a video revealed that the tent will cost around INR 5 lakh , taking jibe at government labs , he said if the same project would have been developed as research project at government lab it would have cost around INR 1 crore.
