India’s climate policy directed towards sustainable development: Bhupender Yadav

Indians are Pro Planet People who take from nature no more than needed

India’s climate policy is directed towards sustainable development and poverty eradication, said the Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, at the Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi.

He added that India’s sustainable development concept is knitted into Indian ethos, as Indians are Pro Planet People who take from nature no more than needed. He said India’s per capita emissions are less than one-third of the world’s per capita GHG emissions.

Yadav also highlighted India’s achievements in installed renewable energy capacity, including the recent submission of its updated NDC at COP 27 in Sharm El Sheikh.

India aims to pursue sustainable growth during its G20 Presidency, and the budget serves as a strong foundation for building a Green India, he said.

The Union Budget has made key declarations, including its vision for ‘Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE)’, ‘Panchamrit’ and net-zero carbon emissions by 2070.
