From solarising tribal villages to training over 600 engineers, Goldi Solar commits INR 2.6 crore toward building a self-reliant renewable energy ecosystem.
The Gujarat-based solar manufacturer,Goldi Solar has pledged more than INR 2.6 crore to expand skill development, research, and off-grid rural electrification.
Coinciding with India’s 79th Independence Day theme, “Honouring Freedom, Inspiring the Future”, the company is targeting long-term self-reliance in the clean energy supply chain rather than simple capacity additions.
Building Local Talent & Research Capabilities
A persistent bottleneck in India’s renewable rollout remains the technical workforce gap. To address this, Goldi Solar has formed 16 partnerships across academia and industry:
- Vocational Training: Collaborating with L&T Public Charitable Trust and three Gujarat engineering institutes to train over 600 students in advanced solar PV manufacturing.
- Global R&D Integration: Partnering on next-generation PV technologies with IIT Bombay, BITS Pilani, Germany’s Fraunhofer ISE, and the Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (SERIS).
- Job Creation: Hosting Knock-RE 2025, which generated 3,000+ placement opportunities (including 1,000 for fresh graduates) toward a long-term goal of building a 10,000-strong manufacturing workforce.
Grassroots Impact: Solarising Tribal Villages
Beyond factory floors, clean energy deployment is directly impacting remote communities. Through village adoption programs, tribal settlements like Chikhalda and Dudhala have achieved full solarisation.
Under the banner “Apni Bijli, Apni Azadi – Chikhalda Ki Kahani,” Chikhalda became one of India’s first fully solar-powered tribal villages, aligning local electrification with central frameworks like PM Surya Ghar and PM-KUSUM. Furthermore, nearly 35% of the company’s manufacturing workforce is hired from local tribal communities.
