Indian Government Has No Plans to Extend Approved List of Solar PV Modules

Joint Secretary at Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) Confirms ALMM Extension Deferred for One Year Only

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has no immediate plans to further extend the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) of solar photovoltaic modules.

Lalit Bohra, Joint Secretary at MNRE, made the announcement at the ‘Mercom India Renewables Summit 2023’ in New Delhi.

Bohra clarified that ALMM, which was introduced to boost domestic manufacturing, was only deferred for a year and would not be extended any further.

The government had earlier extended ALMM by one year until March 2024 due to industry concerns over raw material availability and supply chain.
