Bajaj Revamps Chetak Electric Scooter: Longer Range, Tech Boost in 2024 Model

Indian icon gets a revamp, promising more power, features, and practicality for urban riders.

Bajaj Auto, the iconic Indian motorcycle manufacturer, is set to electrify the new year with a revamped Chetak electric scooter. Unveiling on January 9th, the 2024 Chetak promises significant upgrades in design, performance, and tech, pushing the boundaries of sustainable urban mobility.

Building on the recently launched Chetak Urbane variant, the upcoming model is expected to borrow heavily from the top-tier Chetak Premium. Leaked documents hint at a game-changing 3.2 kWh battery pack, offering a 14% jump in range to an impressive 127 km on a single charge. This marks a notable improvement over the current 2.88 kWh battery’s 113 km range, and should address a key concern for potential buyers. Additionally, charging time is expected to remain manageable at around 4 hours 30 minutes for a full charge.

Thrill seekers will rejoice in the anticipated performance boost. The 2024 Chetak is rumored to reach a top speed of 73 kmph, a welcome 10 kmph increase over its predecessor. But the upgrades go beyond mere horsepower. Bajaj is ditching the traditional LCD unit for a modern TFT screen, paving the way for a host of tech-savvy features. Riders can expect turn-by-turn navigation, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), remote lock/unlock functionality, and seamless Bluetooth connectivity, all conveniently displayed on the advanced screen.

Whispers also suggest a bump in under-seat storage capacity, expanding from 18 liters to 21 liters. This small but thoughtful addition caters to urban riders’ need for carrying essentials on the go.

With its enhanced range, performance, and tech-forward features, the 2024 Bajaj Chetak is poised to solidify its position as a major player in the burgeoning electric scooter market. Bajaj Auto’s commitment to innovation and user experience is evident in these upgrades, and the upcoming launch is sure to generate excitement among eco-conscious riders across India.
