KPIT Technologies and Trentar Energy Solutions Partner to Revolutionize Sustainable Mobility with Sodium-Ion Battery Technology

A breakthrough collaboration to commercialize cost-effective, fast-charging, and eco-friendly sodium-ion batteries for electric mobility and energy storage solutions.

KPIT Technologies, a sustainable mobility solution provider has announced a strategic collaboration with Trentar Energy Solutions Pvt. Ltd. to advance Sodium-Ion Battery Technology.

Under this agreement, KPIT will transfer its breakthrough sodium-ion battery technology to Trentar Energy Solutions, enabling its commercialization and large-scale production.

Advancing Sustainable Energy with Sodium-Ion Batteries

Sodium-ion battery technology is emerging as a cost-effective, safer, and more sustainable alternative to lithium-ion batteries. With 80% capacity retention for 3,000-6,000 cycles and faster charging capabilities, it offers a reliable energy solution for various applications, including:

  • Electric mobility – Two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, and public transport
  • Stationary energy storage – UPS backups and grid storage
  • Marine and defense sectors

By utilizing earth-abundant raw materials, sodium-ion batteries can significantly reduce costs and enhance supply chain resilience, making electric mobility more affordable and sustainable.

Strategic Investment in Sodium-Ion Battery Manufacturing

As part of the technology transfer agreement, Trentar Energy Solutions will invest in establishing a 3GWh sodium-ion battery manufacturing capacity. KPIT will receive an upfront technology transfer fee and additional royalty payments over eight years, ensuring continued collaboration and innovation in this field.
