Volks Energie Secures Strategic Solar Project Under GAIL’s JHBDPL Initiative, Boosting India’s Renewable Energy Drive

The company will deploy 15 KWP solar plants with Ni-Cd batteries across key locations in Eastern and Northern India, supporting the nation’s goal of 500 GW renewable energy by 2070.

In a significant development for India’s renewable energy landscape, Volks Energie has announced a major milestone—winning a key contract under the Jagdishpur–Haldia–Bokaro–Dhamra Pipeline Project (JHBDPL), spearheaded by GAIL India Ltd. The initiative involves the supply, installation, and commissioning of 15 KWP Solar Photovoltaic Power Plants equipped with Nickel-Cadmium (Ni-Cd) batteries across nine critical sites in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh.

Renowned for its innovative solar solutions, Volks Energie continues to advance India’s clean energy goals by leveraging long-lasting Ni-Cd battery technology, known for its impressive 20-year lifespan and high resilience. This move aligns with the broader push towards reliable off-grid renewable energy systems, particularly suited for India’s diverse terrains and challenging climate conditions.

Piyush Goyal, Co-Founder and CEO of Volks Energie, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are proud to partner with GAIL and contribute to one of India’s flagship energy projects. Our solar and Ni-Cd solutions are engineered to deliver consistent and safe power, even under harsh environmental conditions. This project reinforces our commitment to support India’s ambition of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy and net-zero emissions by 2070.”

The project is expected to be completed by year-end and will significantly enhance the operational efficiency of JHBDPL—one of India’s largest pipeline networks. Volks Energie’s involvement marks a notable contribution to the country’s growing renewable capacity and underscores the role of decentralized solar power in building a greener, more sustainable future.
