The landmark order for 4,500 off-grid solar pumps reinforces Crompton’s commitment to sustainable irrigation and clean energy access for Indian farmers.
Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd., has taken a major step forward in its green energy journey by winning its largest solar pump order to date. The company has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from the Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA), valued at over ₹101 crore (excluding GST), for the installation of 4,500 Off-grid Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems (SPWPS) under Component-B of the PM-KUSUM scheme.
This turnkey project involves the design, manufacturing, supply, transportation, installation, testing, and commissioning of solar pumps across rural regions of Maharashtra. It also includes a five-year comprehensive maintenance contract (CMC), ensuring long-term performance and service support.
Crompton’s solar-powered DC submersible pumps are engineered for efficiency, durability, and easy maintenance, making them ideal for off-grid areas facing water access challenges. By leveraging a strong network of trained personnel and district-level support teams, Crompton aims to ensure smooth and timely execution of this ambitious project.
The initiative aligns with India’s national goal of transitioning farmers from conventional to renewable energy sources, offering both cost savings and environmental benefits. With agriculture and rural development driving demand for sustainable water solutions, solar submersible pumps are emerging as vital tools in regions with unreliable rainfall and limited grid access.
Rajat Chopra, Business Head – Home Electricals & Pumps at Crompton, expressed pride in the company’s achievement, stating, “This project not only represents our largest solar pump order so far but also reaffirms our commitment to delivering smart, dependable, and sustainable irrigation solutions to farmers across India.”
Crompton has actively engaged in PM-KUSUM tenders in states like Haryana, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, with successful operations already underway in several regions. The company is preparing to expand further as part of its strategy to support clean energy adoption in agriculture nationwide.
With a legacy spanning over 85 years, Crompton continues to lead the market in providing innovative, energy-efficient pumping solutions that contribute to India’s renewable energy and water security goals.
