South Korean Automaker Taps Global Leader with Proven Track Record to Drive Innovation and Brand Expansion in India
Kia India, the South Korean automaker that has shaken up the country’s premium car market in just four years, announced today the appointment of Gwanggu Lee as its new Managing Director and CEO, effective immediately. Lee, a seasoned automotive executive with over 30 years of experience, takes over from Tae Jin Park, who is retiring after a distinguished 36-year career with Kia Corporation, including four years leading the Indian arm.
Lee’s arrival marks a new chapter for Kia India, a company that has quickly established itself as a major player in the Indian market with its bold design, aggressive pricing, and focus on customer experience. Under Park’s leadership, Kia launched two segment-defining SUVs, the Seltos and Sonet, which helped propel the company to record sales and market share gains.

Lee’s extensive international experience, particularly his success in turning Kia Mexico into a major production and export hub, is seen as a key asset in Kia India’s future plans.
