Larsen & Toubro Secures Major Contract for Solar Plant and Battery Storage in Bihar

The significant order, valued between Rs 1,000 crore and Rs 2,500 crore, aims to bolster Bihar’s renewable energy infrastructure and enhance grid stability

Infrastructure giant Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced on Monday that it has secured a substantial contract to construct a grid-connected solar power plant, accompanied by a battery energy storage system, in Bihar. According to L&T’s classification, this significant contract is valued between Rs 1,000 crore and Rs 2,500 crore.

The power transmission and distribution division of L&T secured the order, the company revealed in a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Located in Kajra village in the Lakhisarai district, this solar project will play a crucial role in Bihar’s strategy to leverage renewable energy for sustainable solutions, addressing climate change, and meeting growing energy demands.

The integrated battery energy storage system is designed to store solar energy during periods of low demand and release it during peak demand times. Additionally, it will manage generation fluctuations, provide frequency regulation, support voltage stability, and offer black start capability, enabling quick grid re-energisation after outages.
