Battery Smart Achieves Milestone of 50 Million Battery Swaps, Setting a New Benchmark in India’s EV Industry

With over 1,400 swapping stations nationwide, Battery Smart solidifies its leadership in the electric vehicle sector by offering fast, affordable battery swaps, driving EV adoption across India’s tier 1 to tier 3 cities.

Battery Smart, India’sbattery swapping network for electric two- and three-wheelers, has announced the completion of 50 million battery swaps, marking a significant achievement in the country’s electric vehicle (EV) landscape.

The company in a statement said that since its inception less than five years ago, Battery Smart has expanded its operations to more than 1,400 swapping stations across India.

The company’s innovative partner-led strategy, which leverages existing infrastructure, has enabled it to accelerate its reach, particularly in tier 1 to tier 3 regions where EV charging options are scarce.

Pulkit Khurana, Co-Founder and CEO of Battery Smart, commented on the achievement, stating, “Reaching 50 million battery swaps is not only a landmark for us, but also a testament to our commitment to making electric vehicles accessible and affordable. Our battery-swapping model solves key challenges faced by EV drivers, offering two-minute swaps that ease range anxiety while helping drivers increase their earnings. Coupled with the cost savings our service offers, we are making EVs more attractive to a wider range of consumers.”

Battery Smart’s model eliminates the need for drivers to own batteries, reducing upfront EV costs by up to 40%. Subscribers to the service gain access to fully charged batteries at any of the company’s stations. The company is also notable for its efforts to increase female participation in the EV sector, with female drivers in their network outnumbering the industry average by three to four times.

The growth of battery swapping aligns with the Indian government’s initiatives, such as the PM E-DRIVE scheme, aimed at accelerating the adoption of electric two- and three-wheelers. Recent guidelines from the Ministry of Power also underscore the importance of battery swapping in building a strong EV ecosystem in the country.
