With a strong focus on Make in India, Senvion India boosts local production, introduces next-gen turbines, and targets a 15% market share in grid-commissioned wind turbines.
Senvion India, a prominent wind turbine manufacturer, has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 1 GW of installed wind power capacity in India. This accomplishment underscores the company’s commitment to advancing India’s clean energy goals and expanding its presence in the rapidly growing wind energy sector.
Coinciding with this achievement, Senvion India has also successfully manufactured 500 nacelles at its Baramati (Maharashtra) plant and 500 sets of blades at its Vadodara (Gujarat) and Tiruchirappalli (Tamil Nadu) facilities.
Boosting ‘Make in India’ and Local Manufacturing
Senvion India operates with the ‘Make in India’ initiative at its core, focusing on designing and manufacturing wind turbines domestically for both Indian and global markets. The company has achieved over 80% localisation at the sub-component level and is steadily progressing toward 100% indigenous manufacturing. This initiative not only supports the country’s self-reliance in renewable energy but also creates employment opportunities and strengthens India’s position as a manufacturing hub for wind turbines.
Amit Kansal, CEO & Managing Director of Senvion India, expressed gratitude to customers, stating:
“Reaching the 1 GW commissioned base is a remarkable milestone, and we are thankful to our customers for their trust. More than 95% of this capacity is under our comprehensive maintenance program. As we celebrate this achievement, our next 1 GW is already in various stages of commissioning, with firm orders ensuring completion within the next 12 months. Our commitment to India’s wind power sector remains unwavering, and we are excited to introduce our next-generation 4.2 MW turbine, as previously announced.”
Ambitious Plans for Market Expansion
With a strong emphasis on technological innovation, backed by R&D teams in Germany and India, Senvion India is gearing up for further expansion. The company aims to secure a 15% market share in grid-commissioned wind turbine generators (WTGs) in the upcoming financial year, reinforcing its role in India’s journey towards achieving the 500 GW renewable energy target by 2030.
Senvion India’s continued efforts in localised manufacturing, technological advancements, and market expansion are set to play a pivotal role in India’s wind energy transformation. As the company gears up for its next phase of growth, its commitment to sustainability and innovation remains steadfast.
