SgurrEnergy Achieves 39 GW Renewable Energy Milestone Across MENA, Strengthens Role in Regional Clean Energy Transition

With a footprint in more than 15 MENA countries, SgurrEnergy accelerates solar, storage, and hybrid project development—backed by deep technical expertise, large-scale advisory roles, and a growing portfolio of high-impact renewable

SgurrEnergy, a global renewable energy engineering and integrated technical consultancy with over 23 years of expertise, has announced a major milestone—successfully delivering 39 GW of renewable energy capacity across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

The achievement underscores the company’s expanding influence in the region’s clean-energy shift, backed by its deep technical capabilities and strong track record in large-scale renewable deployments.

With an active presence in 15+ MENA countries, SgurrEnergy has been instrumental in guiding developers, investors, and utilities through regulatory frameworks and accelerating the development of solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and hybrid projects.

The company has provided end-to-end advisory support for Iraq’s largest solar-plus-storage portfolio and has contributed significantly to utility-scale PV and battery projects in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, offering technical due diligence, EPC evaluation, and design optimisation to ensure project bankability and long-term performance.

SgurrEnergy is also serving as the technical advisor for one of the largest integrated renewable energy developments in the region—a 3 GW solar project with up to 500 MWh of battery storage, nearly 1,000 km of HVDC transmission infrastructure, and a two-year programme dedicated to technology transfer, capacity building, and O&M training.

As part of this engagement, the company is conducting extensive Environmental & Social (E&S) scoping across 15 sites, ensuring compliance with global sustainability standards and effective mitigation strategies.

Through its specialised Inspection Services division, SgurrEnergy continues to ensure asset quality across solar installations.

For Phelan Energy, the company carried out detailed QA/QC inspections on projects ranging from 4 MWp to 86 MWp—reinforcing its reputation for rigorous technical oversight and operational reliability.

Speaking on the milestone, Mr. Arif Aga, Director at SgurrEnergy, said, “The MENA region is rapidly emerging as a global clean-energy leader. We support this transition with solutions tailored to the region’s unique climate and grid needs. Our presence reflects our commitment to advancing robust, responsible renewable projects.”

Echoing this vision, Dr. Khaled Addoweesh, Director of SgurrEnergy (Arabia), added, “With our deep understanding of the region’s energy landscape, we are committed to accelerating the MENA region’s clean energy transition through innovative engineering solutions and partnerships that deliver lasting impact.”

Leveraging its global pool of engineers and technical experts, SgurrEnergy continues to provide comprehensive project support—from feasibility studies and engineering design to due diligence and grid integration solutions—helping stakeholders de-risk projects and enhance renewable asset performance.

With a combination of international expertise and regional insight, the company remains committed to delivering sustainable, future-ready energy solutions across the MENA region.
