The EPC firm secures its first private IPP order this fiscal, boosting its order inflows beyond ₹2,400 crore and reinforcing Rajasthan’s role as a renewable energy hub.
Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Limited (SWREL), one of India’s leading renewable engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) players, has bagged a significant Letter of Intent (LOI) worth around ₹415 crore for the development of a 300 MW AC / 420 MWp DC solar photovoltaic project. The contract, awarded by a leading private Independent Power Producer (IPP), also includes a 220/33 kV pooling substation, along with operations and maintenance (O&M) services.
Key Highlights of the Deal:
- Scale of Project – With a 300 MW capacity, the project strengthens Rajasthan’s position as a renewable energy hub, supporting India’s clean energy targets.
- Financial Impact – The deal adds to SWREL’s gross order inflows, which have already surpassed ₹2,400 crore this fiscal year, reflecting strong demand in the solar EPC market.
- Strategic Entry – This marks SWREL’s first order win from the private IPP market in the current financial year, expanding its customer portfolio beyond traditional utility projects.
- Market Significance – The contract demonstrates continued investor confidence in large-scale solar deployment in India, despite rising competition and supply chain challenges.
- Leadership Insight – Chandra Kishore Thakur, Global CEO of SWREL, highlighted that the win underscores the company’s execution strength and its role in supporting global renewable developers with ambitious growth plans in India.
This project not only bolsters SWREL’s order book but also positions the company to play a critical role in India’s renewable transition. Rajasthan, with its vast solar potential, continues to attract large-scale investments, aligning with the government’s target of achieving 500 GW of renewable capacity by 2030.
The move also signals a broader trend where private IPPs are aggressively investing in solar to diversify energy portfolios and hedge against fossil fuel volatility. For SWREL, the contract enhances its competitive edge in the EPC domain, providing operational stability through the inclusion of long-term O&M services.
If executed seamlessly, this project could set the tone for more private-sector collaborations, strengthening India’s renewable energy value chain.
