GH2 Solar to Develop 100 MW Solar + BESS Project in Rajasthan

₹450 crore hybrid project in Jodhpur aims to deliver round-the-clock renewable power and support green hydrogen production

In a significant push towards reliable renewable energy, GH2 Solar has announced the development of a 100 MW AC (120 MWp DC) utility-scale solar project integrated with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

The project, being developed under the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model, will include a 100 MW / 60 MWh BESS, distributed across two units of 50 MW / 30 MWh each.

Spread over approximately 180 acres per site, the total investment is estimated between ₹400–450 crore. The commissioning timeline will be finalized subject to regulatory approvals.

Strategically located in one of India’s highest solar irradiation zones, the hybrid project is designed to provide firm, dispatchable renewable energy—addressing the intermittency challenges typically associated with solar power.

It is expected to generate around 160 million units of clean electricity annually, strengthening grid stability while enabling consistent energy supply for industrial use and green hydrogen production.

Commenting on the development, Anurag Jain said the integration of solar generation with battery storage marks a critical step in delivering dependable clean energy solutions. He emphasized that such systems are essential for industries transitioning toward low-carbon operations and scaling up green hydrogen adoption.

From an environmental perspective, the project is projected to offset nearly 80,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually, contributing meaningfully to climate mitigation efforts.

Industry experts note that renewable energy projects combined with storage are rapidly emerging as a preferred asset class in India, given their ability to deliver reliable and dispatchable power.

This trend aligns with the country’s broader energy transition goals, including achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

The initiative also supports compliance with Renewable Purchase Obligations (RPOs) and complements flagship schemes such as PM Surya Ghar Yojana, reinforcing India’s commitment to reducing fossil fuel dependence and accelerating industrial decarbonization.
