BrightNight Launches its First Hybrid Renewable Power Project in India

BrightNight’s 115 MW wind-solar project in Maharashtra marks a major milestone in India’s journey toward a clean energy future, supporting the state’s renewable energy goals and India’s Net Zero mission.

BrightNight, a next-generation global renewable energy producer, has achieved a significant milestone with the commissioning of the first phase of Optima Maharashtra, a 115 MW hybrid renewable power project. This project, located in Dharashiv, Southern Maharashtra, is one of the state’s first co-located wind-solar projects and marks BrightNight’s entry into the Indian power grid, aligning with its global mission to decarbonize energy.

Pioneering Renewable Energy in Maharashtra

Spanning 14,000 acres, Optima Maharashtra leverages advanced wind and solar technologies alongside BrightNight’s AI-powered PowerAlpha® platform. This innovative solution maximizes power output while minimizing environmental impact. The project is expected to generate enough clean energy to power approximately 230,000 homes annually and prevent 225,000 tons of carbon emissions, significantly contributing to Maharashtra’s target of sourcing 40% of its energy from renewables by 2030.

A Boost to India’s Net Zero Mission

Martin Hermann, CEO of BrightNight, expressed the company’s commitment to India’s renewable energy goals. “India’s rapid growth and favorable policy environment make it a key market for us. Optima Maharashtra will play a pivotal role in supporting the state’s clean energy aspirations and India’s broader Net Zero mission.”

BrightNight’s entry into India follows a $250 million investment by ACEN Corporation, part of the Ayala Group, aimed at expanding the company’s gigawatt-scale renewable portfolio. This project is the first of many, with major tenders secured from NTPC and NHPC to supply firm and dispatchable renewable energy.

Economic and Environmental Impact

The development of Optima Maharashtra is expected to create around 300 jobs and contribute to the growth of the renewable energy sector in India. Additionally, the project offers tailored power solutions to meet Maharashtra’s unique energy needs, setting a blueprint for future clean energy projects in the Asia-Pacific region.

Naveen Khandelwal, CEO of BrightNight India, emphasized the project’s transformative potential: “Optima Maharashtra exemplifies how renewable energy can drive economic growth and decarbonization. We are working closely with local communities to shape a sustainable future where clean energy underpins India’s leadership on the global stage.”

BrightNight’s Vision for India

Looking ahead, BrightNight plans to launch large-scale projects in Rajasthan and other states, integrating wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems. These hybrid solutions aim to deliver peak power to the national grid, furthering India’s transition to a sustainable, clean energy economy by 2047.

BrightNight’s expansion in India underscores its commitment to driving renewable energy innovation and strengthening the nation’s clean energy infrastructure.
