Chennai-based EPC player enables zero-investment green energy transition under OPEX model
Guna Solar Private Limited, homegrown solar EPC companies, has successfully commissioned a 994.2 kW rooftop solar power plant for Modine Thermal Systems Private Limited at its manufacturing unit in SIPCOT, Sriperumbudur.
The project has been financed by SIDBI under the OPEX model, allowing Modine Thermal to shift to renewable energy with zero upfront investment. As part of the model, Guna Solar retains ownership of the plant and has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Modine Thermal, supplying electricity at 50% of the prevailing grid tariff, leading to immediate cost savings.
Speaking on the milestone, Rajesh Rangarajan, MD & CEO of Guna Solar, said, “We believe in creating value for industries by converting unused rooftops into revenue-saving assets. Our flexible financing models – CAPEX, Lease, Deferred CAPEX, and OPEX – make solar accessible for every company.”
R Sathish, Managing Director of Modine Thermal Systems Pvt. Ltd., added, “This solar installation reflects our commitment to sustainability and energy independence. With the OPEX model and PPA, we can source affordable, pre-determined clean power for years to come while cutting our carbon footprint.”
The rooftop plant, completed in just 100 days, integrates best-in-class equipment, advanced DC optimization with module-level monitoring, and a net metering arrangement for maximum energy utilization. Safety has also been prioritized with module-level rapid shutdown features, aligning with global standards such as FM Global.
Highlighting the technical aspects, Jordi Aragones Juncosa, CTO of Guna Solar, said the system ensures superior energy yield, enhanced diagnostics, and high-resolution analytics to drive operational efficiency, even under shaded or obstructed roof areas.
With this successful installation, Guna Solar continues to strengthen its position as a reliable partner for industries seeking customized, sustainable, and cost-effective solar solutions across India.
