Rajasthan and TERI Join Hands to Accelerate Renewable Energy and Clean Energy Transition

Partnership to focus on energy storage, Agri-PV, grid integration, electric mobility, and sustainable development initiatives

In a major boost to India’s clean energy transition, Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited and The Energy and Resources Institute have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen renewable energy deployment and sustainable development initiatives across Rajasthan.

The agreement was signed at the RRECL Headquarters in Jaipur in the presence of Dr Rohit Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of RRECL, along with senior officials from both organisations. The MoU was formally signed by Yogendra Mathur, Director (Technical), RRECL, and Girish Sethi, Senior Director, TERI.

The collaboration aims to accelerate Rajasthan’s clean energy ambitions through joint research, innovative policy support, energy transition strategies, and pilot projects focused on renewable energy and emerging technologies.

Officials said the partnership will work on several strategic areas including battery energy storage systems, renewable energy grid integration, electric mobility, Agri-PV projects, rooftop solar systems, and smart distribution technologies. The initiative will also support stakeholder consultations, financing mechanisms, and capacity-building programmes to strengthen sustainable energy development in the state.

Speaking during the event, Dr Rohit Gupta highlighted the importance of developing large-scale and replicable energy transition demonstration projects while ensuring participation from farmers, power off-takers, and industry stakeholders. He emphasized that the collaboration would help Rajasthan strengthen its position as one of India’s leading renewable energy hubs.

Key focus areas under the MoU include:

  • Battery energy storage technologies
  • Grid integration studies for renewable energy and electric vehicles
  • Innovative solar applications including Agri-PV and Building Integrated PV
  • Distributed Renewable Energy Project Management Systems
  • Policy and regulatory support for renewable energy expansion
  • Smart distribution systems and digitalisation of renewable energy projects
  • Green belt and plantation studies for project development
  • Capacity building and stakeholder engagement initiatives

The partnership is expected to play a significant role in supporting Rajasthan’s renewable energy roadmap while contributing to India’s larger climate action and sustainable development goals.
