Sixty to seventy percent of children in Bengaluru who breathe poor air get lung diseases.

The “Silicon Valley of India,” Bengaluru, is still praised for its lush vegetation. Due to the cold climatic condition throughout the year it was formerly known as “air-conditioned city.  Environmentalists, however, worry that poor air quality has put the much desired city in great risk. According to experts, Bengaluru’s air quality is not being monitored properly. They indicated that between 25,000 and 30,000 trees have been felled in Bengaluru over the previous five years. Therefore, the vegetation that would filter out the dangerous components from air is lost.
